Beth Lipman

Beth Lipman is an American glass artist whose work interrogates the nature of material culture, mortality, and the passage of time. Drawing from traditions of still-life painting, her practice explores the tension between opulence and decay through intricate glass compositions that feel both frozen and fragile.

She is particularly interested in containment as both a physical state and psychological condition. Her sculptures highlight how objects reflect cultural values, desires, and anxieties — especially in domestic and institutional contexts. By working with glass, a material that simultaneously holds and withholds, Lipman invites viewers to consider what we preserve, what we consume, and what we discard.
