Biography

Rebecca is a Chicago-based artist, writer, and educator whose work examines the intricate connections between humans and the natural world. Through sculptures, transformed materials, and decomposing objects that change over time, she investigates fundamental aspects of daily life, cycles of existence, death, and transformation. Her practice delves into the inherent qualities of materials, embracing both the uncanny and the poetic to explore our relationships with substance and matter.

At the core of her work is an emphasis on the interplay between physical presence and symbolic meaning, aiming to uncover resonance and movement in overlooked aspects of life. By drawing attention to the ways we engage with nature and our own physicality, she challenges rigid distinctions in these relationships. Rebecca holds an MA in Art History and an MFA in Studio Arts from the University of Illinois Chicago. Additionally, she has self-taught expertise in bird taxidermy, learned at Chicago’s Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and ancient Hellenistic astrology.
