Innerbloom by Rufus Du Sol

Slow build = nervous system calm
"an electronic masterpiece, often described as a "hauntingly beautiful" and deeply emotional track that combines house music with soulful, intimate vocals"

How often does something happen in one second?

Space: The Earth travels 18.5 miles (230km) through space.

Cosmos: Over 1,000 stars explode as supernovas.

Environment: Roughly 25,000 tons of ice melt in the Arctic, and 100 lightning strikes hit Earth.

Physics: Light travels about 186,000 miles (299,729km), enough to circle the globe over 7 times.

H z

Frequency is measured in hertz (Hz)

Hertz (Hz) = One hertz is equal to one cycle per second.

A light blinking 2 times per second → 2 Hz

A sound vibrating 440 times per second (like a musical note) → 440 Hz

A phone screen refreshing 60 times per second → 60 Hz

H z

Hz in the brain (EEG brainwaves)

Hz also describes how fast neurons fire together in rhythms:

Our brain cells (neurons) talk using eletrical signals.

Individually, neuros fire in little spikes. But when lots of neurons sync up, they create rhythms.

Those rhythms are what we measure in HZ, and we call the brain waves or natural oscillations.

Brainwave Hz range Associated with
Delta 0.5–4 Hz Deep sleep
Theta 4–8 Hz Meditation, creativity
Alpha 8–12 Hz Relaxed focus
Beta 13–30 Hz Thinking, stress
Gamma 30–100+ Hz High cognition

432 Hz music ≠ your brain vibrating at 432 Hz

Sound frequencies are mechanical vibrations

Brainwaves are electrical oscillations

Music can influence brain activity indirectly, not by matching Hz.
