"Blending the animate and inanimate the artists in this room investigate the object-like presence of the human form Here, puppets, mannequins, and dolls explore the body's relationship to labor and the machine. Other works merge everyday objects with bodily materials such as hair, producing seductive yet disquieting effects. Borrowing from the surrealist technique of collage, many of the works exploit unexpected combinations of bodies and things, challenging rational intuition and unlocking dreamlike and poetic associations."
