The effects of design, especially when it comes to user interfaces (both digital and physical), goes far beyond the aesthetics on a page. You must create something not only beautiful that users want to interact with, but which also resonates on a subconscious level. Your goal as a UX/UI designer is to help users achieve goals with as little friction as possible. These may be goals determined by the user — such as a logging data, checking out, or finding support resources — or the company (your client) — such as encouraging larger purchases or increasing subscriptions. Accomplishing these goals requires an understanding of cultural psychology as well as observation of actual user behavior.
