“…my art is influenced by politics, war, violence on the streets, various social events sometimes just whimsical ideas from my imagination, characters from movies and life..”
- Errol Ortiz
Errol Ortiz (b.1941) is a Chicago artist, whose prolific career extends back to the early 1960s. As a member of the legendary Chicago Imagist group, Ortiz has developed an iconic visual style, and has produced an extensive body of work both surreal and abstract. While his work is deeply rooted into the pop aesthetics of the 1960s, it is highly resonating with us today through its visual association with contemporary vector graphics and through its sophisticated commentary on mass media and pop culture.
